 Norwich Textiles of 250 Years Ago



Join us for an afternoon of tea, talk and textiles Gain insight into the making and marketing of Norwich textiles in the late 18th century. Our speaker will cover the entire manufacturing story from the beginning to end, including the marketing and exporting of these fabrics to Europe, the Americas and China. Dr Michael Nix is a maritime and textile historian whose book, Norwich Textiles A Global Story 1750-1840, won the History and Tradition category in the East Anglian Book Awards, 2023. Illustrating Norwich’s highly desirable and beautiful stuffs, it will be available to purchase on the day. We’re also hoping to hear of Michael’s new research since then.
